Bluebell Walk

The woodland floor here turns an almost unreal shade of blue come late April and May. Bluebells carpet the forest in thick drifts, and it's genuinely one of those sights that stops you mid-walk. You're near Lutterworth, just off the beaten track, which means it doesn't draw the sort of crowds that absolutely wreck some of the more famous bluebell spots.

It's a straightforward nature reserve - you walk through the woods, you see the flowers, you breathe in the damp woodland air. Not complicated, not trying too hard. The paths are mostly decent underfoot, though they can get boggy after rain. An hour is comfortable; two hours if you're the sort who likes to sit on a log and just absorb things.

Worth timing it right though. Too early and they're barely out. Too late and they've gone over. Mid-May tends to be the sweet spot in most years, but it shifts depending on the weather. Early morning visits are quieter, and the light's better for photographs.

If you're based at Caravanning and Camping at Manor Farm or Caravan Park At Stanford Hall - both within a few miles - this makes a proper easy morning out. It's not a full day's entertainment, but paired with a walk around Stanford Hall itself or a proper lunch in Lutterworth, it slots nicely into a park holiday. Families with young kids will find it engaging enough for a spring visit, though expect complaints if the flowers aren't at peak bloom.
