Blind Fiddler Standing Stone

Out on the Cornish moors near Penzance, this Bronze Age standing stone sits alone in the landscape, weathered and purposeful. You won't find crowds here - just grass, sky, and a chunk of granite that's been upright for roughly 4,000 years. The stone itself is modest compared to famous megalithic sites, but that's rather the point. It feels genuine, untouched by visitor infrastructure.

Walkers and archaeology enthusiasts will find it worth the detour, though it's not a destination that commands a half-day visit on its own. The real appeal is combining it with a moorland walk across the Penwith landscape - you can string together several Bronze Age sites if you're keen on that sort of thing. The approach is straightforward enough, though the moor can be boggy and the weather turns quickly.

There's no visitor centre, no gift shop, no admission fee that we're aware of. It's simply there, free to visit whenever you fancy. Allow 30 minutes to an hour including a bit of poking around and taking in the views across open moorland.
