Blenheim Farm Nature Reserve

A working farm turned nature reserve just outside Chipping Norton, Blenheim Farm is one of those places that sneaks up on you. The landscape here is proper Cotswolds - open grassland, hedgerows, and woodland that actually feels alive with birds and insects rather than just picturesque. You're walking through actively managed farmland where conservation happens alongside real farming, which gives it an authenticity you won't find in more manicured nature reserves.

The best time to visit is spring or early summer when the wildflowers are out and the bird activity peaks. There's no visitor centre or café, so come prepared and allow a couple of hours for a decent wander. The paths are manageable but can get muddy after rain - proper boots recommended. It's free to explore, which is always welcome.

Walkers and birders will get the most from this reserve. It's genuinely rewarding if you know what you're looking for, though casual visitors might find it a bit quieter than flashier attractions. Kids will need to be old enough to appreciate watching wildlife rather than expecting playground facilities.
