Blakeney Point Seals

Getting out to Blakeney Point means a proper boat trip from the village - and that's half the appeal. You're not just wandering up to a viewing platform; you're genuinely heading out to sea to see grey seals lounging on the shingle banks like they own the place, which frankly they do. The seals here are surprisingly unbothered by visitors as long as the boats keep a respectful distance. You'll see dozens of them in winter, fewer in summer when they're off doing seal things elsewhere.

It's brilliant for families with older kids who can handle a boat ride without getting restless, and nature-lovers will find it genuinely worthwhile. The boat operators (run from the village itself) know exactly where the seals haul out, so you're not just bobbing about hoping. Allow a couple of hours including the journey and the time on the water. Winter months, particularly October through March, give you the best seal-spotting odds.

Staying at Kelling Heath Holiday Park, just 5.4 miles away, puts you perfectly positioned. You could easily combine this with walks along the Norfolk coast path or a poke around Fakenham's market if you're rained out. The whole thing feels less touristy than you'd expect - still genuinely local, which is worth something. Bring a decent camera with zoom if you want proper photos; the seals don't exactly come close.
