The drive-through safari at Blair Drummond, just outside Stirling, is one of those attractions that actually delivers on its promise - you'll see animals roaming freely rather than pacing behind barriers. You drive your own car slowly through different zones watching zebras, antelopes, and big cats that genuinely don't seem to care much about the vehicles crawling past.

It's absolutely brilliant for families with kids aged four to fourteen. Younger children get genuinely excited spotting giraffes at eye level, and there's enough variety to hold their attention for a solid three hours if you take it slowly and stop for photos. Teenagers might find it a touch slow-paced, though the big cats section usually gets a reaction. If you've got a car that needs a wash afterwards, you've probably done it right.

There's also a separate walk-around section with smaller animals and playgrounds, so you're not limited to just the drive-through if weather turns. Weekday visits are noticeably quieter than weekends - go midweek if you can for a more relaxed experience.

It's not a full-day destination on its own, but combined with a wander through Stirling town centre or a visit to nearby Wallace Monument, it slots in well.
