Bexhill Down

The walk up Bexhill Down rewards you with proper views across the Sussex coast - nothing fancy, but genuinely worth an hour of your time. It's open downland, the sort of place where you can actually breathe, with paths that criss-cross the grassland depending on how far you fancy going. From up there you get the sea catching light in the distance and the whole stretch of the Weald sprawling inland. Mostly walkers come here, and rightly so - it's a decent leg-stretch without needing serious kit. Families with older kids will manage fine; younger ones might find it a bit samey after half an hour, just fields all the way up. The ground can be muddy after rain, so proper boots make sense. You're looking at 90 minutes to two hours for a proper explore, depending on your pace and which paths you fancy. Head here from Bexhill-on-Sea - it's close enough for an afternoon outing - and you've got a genuine sense of getting away from the seafront crowds. Free to access, naturally.
