Beech Grove

The woodland around Beech Grove offers proper peace and quiet, which is exactly what you want when you've pitched up at one of the caravan parks near Burford. It's a straightforward walk through beech trees - nothing dramatic, but solid English woodland that does what it says on the tin. The canopy's thick enough to feel sheltered even when it's drizzly, and the forest floor is soft underfoot, which families with younger kids will appreciate.

This isn't a destination that demands hours of your time. An hour or so works perfectly - long enough to clear your head after a morning spent on the main roads, short enough that you won't lose the plot with restless children. The trees are tall and the light filters through nicely in late afternoon. Walkers passing through the area often dip in here as a break between bigger Cotswolds villages.

Within spitting distance of Burford itself, Beech Grove slots neatly into a caravan holiday based at either Wysdom Touring Park or the Burford Caravan and Motorhome Club Campsite - both are handily close. If you're staying further out at Bluewood Lodges, it's still an easy drive and worth the trip on a fine day. The woods aren't spectacular enough to plan a journey around, but they're exactly right when you're already in the area and fancy some proper trees rather than another village walk.
