A proper little watercourse sits tucked between Coventry and the wider Warwickshire countryside - Bannerley Pool is the sort of place locals know about but visitors often miss. It's essentially a small lake or large pond, depending on rainfall, fringed with trees and offering a quiet spot if you want to break up a caravan park stay with something low-key.

There's walking around the perimeter if you're after a gentle circuit, and the water itself attracts the odd angler and birdwatcher. Don't expect dramatic scenery or facilities - this isn't a visitor attraction with cafés and interpretation boards. It's a natural space, genuinely quiet, which means families with young kids might lose interest after twenty minutes or so. Older children and anyone keen on spotting wildlife will get more from it.

The beauty is how close it sits to both Somers Wood and Hollyfast caravan parks, making it handy for a late afternoon wander when you've had enough of the van. Free to visit, as far as anyone can tell, though there's no official visitor infrastructure. Go in drier months if you can - winter waterlogging turns the approach tracks into a bit of a slog. Early morning or dusk brings out the birds, which is when it feels least like an afterthought and more like something worth the detour from Coventry.
