Badby Plantation

A proper woodland walk rather than a destination in itself, Badby Plantation sits just outside Daventry and offers exactly what you'd expect from a Warwickshire forest - mixed trees, quiet paths, and the kind of stillness that makes you remember why you came to the countryside. The plantation spreads across manageable acreage with trails threading through, no drama, no crowds, just the occasional dog walker and the sound of whatever birds are about that day.

Walkers will get the most from this one. It's not challenging terrain, so families with younger children won't struggle, though there's nothing flashy to hold their attention if they're the type who need attractions every five minutes. Allow an hour or so for a proper loop, maybe ninety minutes if you're dawdling.

The real value here is as a morning or late-afternoon break during a park-based holiday in the area. If you're staying at EWE Glamping, Coleman's Hill, or Hill Farm - all within a few miles - this fills a gap nicely between the campsite and Daventry town proper. It's the kind of place you don't plan around, but you're genuinely glad you found when you need a proper walk without faffing about in the car for an hour.

Free access, no facilities that I could spot, so bring what you need. Winter can be muddy. Go on a weekday morning if you value quiet.
