Arundel Pumpkin Patch

The Arundel Pumpkin Patch is one of those seasonal attractions that really only makes sense in October. You'll find rows of pumpkins and squashes laid out across fields just outside the town, with families wandering about picking their Halloween specimens or just enjoying the autumn vibe. It's the sort of place where kids can actually get their hands dirty - literally - selecting their own pumpkins rather than buying pre-picked ones from a supermarket aisle.

What you get depends entirely on when you visit. Early October and you'll have proper choice. By late October it's picked over, though there's still a decent selection if you're not fussy. The whole experience takes maybe an hour, longer if you've got young children who want to examine every single pumpkin. Bring wellies if there's been rain - the ground gets muddy quickly.

This works brilliantly as a half-day activity if you're based at South Downs Caravan Park or Brookside, both within easy driving distance. Pair it with a visit to Arundel town itself - the castle is worth a look, and there are decent pubs and tea shops along the high street. You could also head to the riverside walks, which are genuinely lovely on a clear autumn day.

Honestly, it's not a must-do destination by itself, but if you're already in the area with kids during pumpkin season, it's a fun addition to the itinerary. Don't expect it to occupy a full day, though.
