The walk into Anchor Gardens from Great Yarmouth takes you away from the seafront chaos and into something altogether quieter. It's a nature reserve that feels properly removed from the holiday park bustle, even though you're only minutes from the coast. The gardens themselves are modest - reed beds, shallow pools, and scrubby vegetation that looks unpromising until you realise it's exactly what attracts the birds. Birdwatchers will genuinely rate this place. Bring binoculars and patience, and you'll spot warblers, bitterns if you're lucky, and the usual suspects like great crested grebes. Non-birders might find it a bit thin on the ground, if we're honest. There's no visitor centre, no café, no interpretive panels - it's just you and the wetland. The paths are flat and straightforward, so families with young kids won't struggle, but don't expect them to stay entertained for hours.
