From nearby Llandysul, it's an easy drive into proper Welsh countryside. The forest sits in a landscape of rolling hills and traditional farms, making it a lovely contrast if you're staying at one of the local parks like Brynawelon or Greenfields Holiday Park. Pack a flask - there are no facilities here, just you and the trees.

Best visited on a crisp morning when the air is sharp and the light cuts through the canopy beautifully. Allow a couple of hours if you want to explore properly, though you could easily spend half a day here if the weather's good and you've brought a picnic.
