All Saints' Strichen

The kirk sits on a quiet rise above Strichen village, a solid granite structure that's been watching over Aberdeenshire since the 1700s. All Saints' has that particular stillness you find in old Scottish churches - the kind where your footsteps echo and the light falls through plain windows onto worn stone floors.

Inside, the space is honest and uncluttered. There's a decent bit of local history worked into the fabric - gravestones in the kirkyard tell stories of farming families and merchant folk who built this corner of the northeast. The church itself isn't ornate, which is rather the point. It's the real thing, not a museum recreation.

This is genuinely worthwhile if you're into church architecture or local history, though you won't need more than half an hour unless you're seriously working through the graveyard records. It works perfectly as a stop during a wider wander round Aberdeenshire - Mintlaw is just down the road, and if you're staying at Aden Caravan & Camping or the glamping spots nearby, it's an easy detour.

The churchyard itself is pleasant on a decent day, with decent views across the farmland. Free to visit, obviously. Go during daylight hours and assume it'll be open unless there's something on - these smaller parish kirks aren't always staffed.

Not a showstopper, but a proper slice of northeast Scotland's backbone. Worth twenty minutes if you're in the area.
