All Saints Park

The River Worfe winds through All Saints Park like it owns the place, and frankly it does. This nature reserve sits just outside Bridgnorth, tucked away enough that you'll feel like you've stumbled onto something the day-trippers haven't found yet. The woodland alongside the water is proper thick - oak and ash mostly - and the paths follow the riverbank closely enough that you're never far from the sound of water.

It's a walker's spot first and foremost. The terrain is manageable but uneven in places, with tree roots across the path and the occasional steep bit where the bank drops away. You're looking at an hour to ninety minutes for a decent loop, depending on how often you stop to watch the kingfishers or listen for woodpeckers. Birdwatchers will have their binoculars out immediately. In spring the place comes alive with migrants; autumn brings finches stripping seeds from the undergrowth.

There's not much in the way of interpretation boards or facilities - this is nature reserve in its honest form, not a visitor centre experience. That's rather the point. Families with younger kids might find the walking a bit tedious, but older children who actually enjoy being outside will get on with it fine.

If you're basing yourself at Stanmore Hall or Worfe Camping - both excellent sites - this makes an easy morning or afternoon venture. The nearest parking is limited, so go early or mid-week if you can. Free entry, naturally. The River Severn at Bridgnorth itself is worth exploring afterwards if you want more riverside time.
