Abbey Galleries

The Abbey Galleries sit right in Pershore, housed in what was once monastic buildings - a proper working art space rather than some sterile museum setup. You're looking at contemporary work mostly, rotating exhibitions that tend to focus on local and regional artists. It's the sort of place where you might stumble across a photographer's portfolio one month and textile installations the next.

The space itself is the draw as much as what's on the walls. Walking through converted abbey buildings gives the whole experience a different texture than a standard gallery would. It's intimate without feeling cramped, and the stone walls add real character to whatever's hanging. Most people spend 45 minutes to an hour here - enough time to properly look without it feeling like a slog.

If you're staying at one of the nearby parks - Bredon View Glamping or The Springs are just a mile or two away - this works as a decent rainy afternoon stop or a culture break between countryside walks. It won't blow your mind if you're not particularly into contemporary art, but if you are, it's worth the detour. Pershore itself is pleasant enough, with the river and some decent pubs, so you could easily make a morning of it.
