A-Team

Contemporary art in Burntisland doesn't exactly leap to mind, but A-Team gallery is worth digging out if you're staying at one of the caravan parks nearby - Pettycur Bay or Sandhills are both within a short drive. It's a proper working gallery showcasing emerging and established artists, with the kind of space that feels genuinely lived-in rather than sterile. You'll find paintings, sculpture, installations - the sort of thing that actually makes you think instead of just scroll past on Instagram.

The best bit? Free admission. Spend as long as you like poking about, or whip through in twenty minutes if you're not feeling it. Art types will get more from it than kids, to be honest - there's no interactive stuff to fidget with, so the under-tens might kick their heels. But if you're the sort who likes discovering what local artists are making without the London gallery crowd, it's worth an afternoon visit.

Pop over during the autumn or winter when exhibitions tend to rotate more frequently - summer can be a bit quiet. Kinghorn Harbour is just up the coast if you fancy a walk afterwards, and Burntisland itself has decent fish and chips and a decent seafront. Not a destination in itself, but a solid addition to a Fife holiday when you've already done the beaches and the castles.
