The little semi-detached house on Privet Drive in Watford is famous for one reason alone: it's the childhood home of Harry Potter. Well, sort of. J.K. Rowling based the Dursleys' dreary suburban residence on this actual street in Hertfordshire, and fans have been making the pilgrimage ever since.

There's not much to do here, to be honest. You turn up, take a photo of the front gate, maybe snap one outside the house itself if you're quick and the residents aren't glaring at you. The magic, such as it is, exists only in your head - no tours, no exhibitions, no café selling butterbeer. What you get is a perfectly ordinary 1930s semi in a quiet residential area east of Watford. The appeal is purely sentimental.

Harry Potter completists will find it worth a quick detour, especially if they're already in the area. Kids who've grown up on the books might get a genuine thrill from seeing it in person, though parents should manage expectations - there's no attraction here, just a house.
